Boro Kali Puja in Malda, celebrated during the new moon in Kartik (October-November), is one of the grandest events in the region. It’s held in honor of Goddess Kali and showcases local traditions, cultural unity, and vibrant rituals.

The puja involves massive pandals, dramatic processions, night-long rituals, and street performances. Community involvement is high, making it a vibrant expression of faith.
The village Bolla is situated 20 km away from Balurghat town on the Balurghat - Malda Highway. The village is home to an historical temple dated during the British period, it is a temple where Maa Kali, a swarup of Maa Durga is worshiped by the devotees. The story behind the temple says that a Zamindar was arrested by the British as he could not pay the tax for his Zamindari. Goddess Kali came to his rescue and the Zamindar was freed the very next day. As a token of gratitude, he built a temple of Goddess Kali and started worshipping her.
