Basirhat Rathyatra

Overview

The grand chariot procession during Rath Yatra in Basirhat draws huge crowds every June–July. With origins over 100 years ago, it marks the traditional journey of Lord Jagannath.

Details

Massive wooden chariots, devotional singing, and prasad distribution make it one of North 24 Parganas' most awaited festivals. This festival, part of the Hindu faith, involves the pulling of chariots bearing deities, a traditional practice with religious importance.
